Missouri State Information

Missouri is a state located in the Midwestern United States. It is bordered by eight other states: Iowa to the north, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee to the east, Arkansas to the south, and Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska to the west. Missouri is the 18th most populous state in the country with over 6 million residents.

The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City, located in the center of the state. The largest city is Kansas City, located in the western part of the state near the border with Kansas. St. Louis is another major city located in eastern Missouri near the Mississippi River.

Missouri has a diverse landscape that includes rolling hills, forests, rivers and lakes. The Ozark Mountains are located in southern Missouri and are known for their rugged beauty. The Missouri River runs through central Missouri and is a popular destination for fishing and boating.

The climate of Missouri varies depending on location but generally has hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in July is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) while January temperatures average around 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 degree Celsius).

Missouri has a rich history that includes Native American tribes such as the Osage, Sioux and Quapaw as well as French settlers who arrived in 1764. During the Civil War, Missouri was a divided state with both Union and Confederate forces present. Today, Missouri is known for its agriculture industry which produces soybeans, corn, wheat and cattle among other products. It is also home to several major companies such as Anheuser-Busch InBev and Express Scripts Holding Company.
