Born and raised in Morgan Hill, John, as a fourth generation resident, follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, John Telfer, who was the longest serving mayor in Morgan Hill history, and his parents, Ernest and Ethel Telfer, who operated Telfer's Market from the 1930s through 1960s. It was Ernest and Ethel who later founded South County Realty and trained John in the real estate field. John also developed the necessary knowledge in real estate by receiving his business degree from San Jose State University with a concentration in Real Estate. What sets John apart from other agents in the area is his extensive experience and knowledge of the entitlement process for projects, both large and small, and the marketing of these properties. Professionalism and personal service is of paramount importance to John, and he prides himself on having many repeat and referral clients that appreciate what a difference this attitude can make. John has also been active in community affairs, being involved with city initiated economic development committees, and land use and recreational advisory boards. John also took over the Live Oak High School boy's volleyball program from 1999-2004, and coached three undefeated league championship teams during that time. Away from the office, John is an avid skier, windsurfer, kiteboarder, wakeboarder and beach volleyball player, and loves nothing more than traveling and sharing these activities with his two sons, Matt and Erik, and wife, Diane.
