Rosharon, Texas Description
Rosharon is a small town located in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. It is situated about 30 miles south of Houston and is part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area. The population was 1,152 at the 2010 census.
The town was founded in 1894 by German immigrants who named it after their hometown of Rosharon, Germany. The town has remained largely rural since its founding and is known for its agricultural production. The main crops grown in the area are cotton, corn, soybeans, and hay.
Rosharon is home to several parks and recreational areas including the Rosharon Community Park which features a playground, picnic tables, basketball courts, and a walking trail. There are also several lakes in the area that offer fishing and boating opportunities.
The town has a few restaurants and stores as well as a post office and library. There are also several churches in the area including Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian and Pentecostal denominations.
Rosharon is served by two school districts: Angleton Independent School District (AISD) and Brazosport Independent School District (BISD). AISD serves students from grades K-12 while BISD serves students from grades K-8. Both districts have excellent academic programs with high graduation rates.
Overall Rosharon is a quiet rural community with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy such as fishing or hiking in one of its many parks or lakeside areas. It's an ideal place for those looking for a peaceful place to call home away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
