Montana State Information

Montana is a state located in the Northwestern United States. It is bordered by North Dakota to the east, South Dakota and Wyoming to the south, Idaho to the west, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan to the north. Montana is the fourth largest state in the United States by area, with an area of 147,042 square miles (380,800 km2). It is also the seventh least populous state with 1,050,493 inhabitants as of 2019.

Montana is known for its rugged terrain and vast open spaces. The state is home to some of America's most iconic landscapes including Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Flathead Lake. Montana also has a rich history of Native American tribes such as the Blackfeet Nation and Crow Nation.

The climate in Montana varies greatly depending on location. The western part of the state has a semi-arid climate while the eastern part has a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The average temperature in Montana ranges from -10°F (-23°C) in January to 85°F (29°C) in July.

Montana's economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The state produces wheat, barley, hay, sugar beets, potatoes, oats, corn, and other crops. Livestock production includes beef cattle, sheep, hogs, horses, and poultry. Tourism is also an important industry in Montana with visitors coming to experience its natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities such as fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, snowmobiling and more.

Montana is home to several universities including Montana State University in Bozeman and University of Montana in Missoula. The state also has several professional sports teams including the Billings Mustangs (baseball), Missoula Osprey (baseball), Great Falls Voyagers (baseball), Helena Bighorns (hockey), Missoula Maulers (hockey), Bozeman Ice Dogs (hockey), Missoula Stampede (hockey), Billings Bulls (hockey) and Missoula Maulers (football).
