Oklahoma State Information
Oklahoma is a state located in the South Central region of the United States. It is bordered by Texas to the south, Arkansas and Missouri to the east, Kansas to the north, and Colorado and New Mexico to the west. Oklahoma has an area of 69,899 square miles, making it the 20th largest state in the country. The population of Oklahoma is estimated at 3.9 million people, making it the 28th most populous state in the US.
Oklahoma's landscape is diverse and varied, ranging from rolling hills and prairies in the east to rugged mountains in the west. The state is home to several national parks and monuments, including Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. Oklahoma also has a number of lakes and rivers, including Lake Texoma, Grand Lake o' The Cherokees and Lake Eufaula.
Oklahoma's climate is generally warm and humid with hot summers and mild winters. The average temperature in July is around 90°F (32°C) while January temperatures average around 40°F (4°C). Rainfall averages around 35 inches (89 cm) per year with most of it falling during spring and summer months.
Oklahoma's economy is largely based on agriculture, oil production, manufacturing, aerospace technology and tourism. Major industries include food processing, energy production, aircraft manufacturing and telecommunications. Oklahoma City is home to many major corporations such as Devon Energy Corporation, Chesapeake Energy Corporation and AT&T Mobility LLC.
Oklahoma has a rich cultural heritage that includes Native American tribes such as Cherokee Nation, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and Muscogee Creek Nation. The state also has a vibrant music scene with genres such as country music, blues and rockabilly being popular among locals. Oklahoma City hosts several annual festivals such as Red Earth Festival which celebrates Native American culture through art exhibitions, dance performances and traditional foods.
