Georgia State Information

Georgia is a state located in the southeastern United States. It is bordered by Alabama to the west, Tennessee to the north, North Carolina and South Carolina to the east, and Florida to the south. Georgia covers an area of 59,441 square miles and has a population of 10.6 million people.

The capital of Georgia is Atlanta, which is also its largest city. Other major cities include Augusta, Columbus, Savannah, Macon, and Athens. Georgia is known for its diverse landscape which includes mountains in the north, rolling hills in the middle, and coastal plains in the south. The highest point in Georgia is Brasstown Bald at 4,784 feet above sea level.

The climate of Georgia is generally humid subtropical with hot summers and mild winters. The average temperature ranges from 45°F in January to 79°F in July. Rainfall averages around 50 inches per year with most of it occurring during the summer months.

Georgia has a rich history that dates back to colonial times when it was part of the original 13 colonies. It was one of the first states to ratify the US Constitution and was also a major battleground during the Civil War. Today, Georgia is home to many historical sites such as Stone Mountain Park and Andersonville National Historic Site.

Georgia’s economy is largely based on agriculture with crops such as cotton, peanuts, corn, soybeans, peaches, and tobacco being grown throughout the state. Manufacturing also plays an important role in Georgia’s economy with companies such as Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines having their headquarters here. Tourism is also a major industry with attractions such as Six Flags Over Georgia and Callaway Gardens drawing millions of visitors each year.
