Memphis Academy Of Science Engineering Description
The Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE) is a public charter school located in the heart of downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 2009, MASE provides an innovative learning environment for students from grades 6-12. The mission of MASE is to provide a rigorous college preparatory education that emphasizes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
At MASE, students are encouraged to explore their interests through hands-on projects and activities. Through these experiences, they develop critical thinking skills as well as problem solving abilities. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, students have access to state-of-the art laboratories where they can conduct experiments and research projects related to STEM topics.
In order to ensure that all students receive the best possible education at MASE, teachers use evidence based instructional strategies such as project based learning and inquiry based teaching methods. This allows them to tailor lessons according to each student’s individual needs while still providing a challenging curriculum that prepares them for college level work.
Outside of the classroom, there are numerous extracurricular activities available for students including robotics clubs, chess teams and debate societies. Additionally, MASE offers several sports teams including basketball and soccer which allow students to stay active while developing teamwork skills.
Overall, the Memphis Academy of Science & Engineering provides an excellent educational experience for its diverse student body by emphasizing STEM subjects while also offering plenty of opportunities for personal growth outside of the classroom setting.
