Sumter High School Description
Sumter High School is a public high school located in Sumter, South Carolina. Founded in 1892, it is the oldest and largest high school in Sumter County. The school serves over 1,500 students from grades 9-12 and offers a wide variety of academic programs to meet the needs of its diverse student body.
The campus consists of two main buildings: an auditorium/gymnasium complex and a classroom building with science labs, computer labs, art rooms, music rooms and other facilities. In addition to these core areas, there are several athletic fields for football, baseball, softball and soccer as well as tennis courts and outdoor basketball courts.
At Sumter High School students have access to numerous extracurricular activities including clubs such as National Honor Society (NHS), Student Government Association (SGA) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). There are also many sports teams available for both boys’ and girls’ teams including football, basketball, volleyball, track & field and more.
Sumter High School has been recognized by U.S News & World Report as one of the top schools in South Carolina for its commitment to excellence in academics as well as athletics.
