Gaffney High School Description
Gaffney High School is a public high school located in Gaffney, South Carolina. Established in 1891, it is the oldest high school in Cherokee County and serves students from grades 9-12. With an enrollment of over 1,400 students, Gaffney High School offers a wide variety of educational opportunities for its student body.
The school's curriculum includes core classes such as English, math, science and social studies as well as electives like art, music and physical education. Advanced Placement courses are also available to those who qualify. In addition to academics, Gaffney High School provides extracurricular activities including sports teams (football, basketball and baseball), clubs (National Honor Society) and other organizations (Student Council).
Gaffney High School has been recognized for its excellence by being named one of the top 10 schools in South Carolina by US News & World Report magazine. The faculty at GHS strive to create an environment that encourages learning while providing support for all students regardless of their background or ability level. As part of this commitment to excellence they have implemented several programs designed to help struggling students succeed academically such as tutoring services and after-school study groups.
At Gaffney High School we believe that every student should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom setting. We are proud of our long history of success here at GHS and look forward to continuing our tradition into the future!
