The Workshop School Description

The Workshop School is a unique and innovative public high school located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2013, The Workshop School offers an alternative approach to education that focuses on project-based learning and real-world problem solving. With its emphasis on hands-on learning experiences, students are encouraged to explore their interests while developing skills for college and career readiness.

At The Workshop School, teachers serve as facilitators who guide students through projects that require them to think critically and creatively about how they can solve problems. Students have access to state-of-the art technology such as 3D printers, laser cutters, robotics kits, virtual reality headsets and more. In addition to traditional academic courses like math and science, students also take classes in entrepreneurship, design thinking and coding which help prepare them for success after graduation.

Outside of the classroom, there are plenty of opportunities for extracurricular activities including sports teams (soccer & basketball), student clubs (robotics & debate) and community service initiatives (food drives & cleanups). Through these activities students learn important life lessons such as teamwork, communication skills and leadership qualities that will benefit them long after they graduate from The Workshop School.
