Central High School Description

Central High School is a public high school located in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1836, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious secondary schools in the United States. Central High School has been consistently ranked among the top high schools in Pennsylvania and nationally for its academic excellence. The student body consists of over 2,000 students from diverse backgrounds who come together to create an environment that encourages learning and personal growth.

The curriculum at Central High School focuses on preparing students for college-level work with rigorous courses such as Advanced Placement (AP) classes, honors classes, and dual enrollment programs with local universities. In addition to academics, Central offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities including sports teams, clubs, music ensembles, theater productions, art shows and more.
