Duniway Elementary School Description

Duniway Elementary School is a vibrant and diverse learning community located in the heart of Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1925, Duniway has been providing quality education to students for nearly 100 years. With an enrollment of over 500 students from kindergarten through fifth grade, Duniway offers a wide variety of educational opportunities that are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student.

At Duniway, teachers strive to create an environment where all children can learn and grow together. The school's curriculum focuses on developing critical thinking skills while also emphasizing creativity and collaboration among its students. In addition to core academic subjects such as math, science, language arts, social studies and physical education, Duniway also provides enrichment classes such as art and music appreciation as well as foreign language instruction.

The staff at Duniway works hard to ensure that every child feels safe and supported throughout their time at the school. Through various programs like Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices (RP), they work with families to promote positive behavior both inside and outside the classroom setting. Additionally, there are many extracurricular activities available for students including sports teams, after-school clubs and field trips which help foster a sense of belonging within the school community.
