Portland High School Description

Portland High School is a public high school located in Portland, Michigan. Founded in 1876, it is the oldest high school in Ionia County and one of the oldest schools in the state. The school serves students from grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students.

The mission of Portland High School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth for all students. The faculty strives to create an atmosphere where each student can reach their full potential through rigorous instruction, meaningful activities, and positive relationships with peers and staff members.

At Portland High School, there are numerous opportunities for students to get involved both inside and outside of the classroom. Students have access to a variety of clubs such as National Honor Society, Student Council, Robotics Club, Drama Club, Art Club and more! In addition to these extracurriculars there are also many sports teams including football, basketball, baseball/softball track & field etc., which compete at both district and state levels.

Portland High School prides itself on its commitment to providing quality education while fostering strong community ties within its diverse student body. With dedicated teachers who strive for excellence every day along with supportive parents who value education highly; Portland High School continues to be a leader among area schools when it comes to preparing young people for success beyond graduation day!
