Forest School at 158 Clover St, Oak Grove, LA is a unique learning environment that provides students with an opportunity to explore and discover the natural world. Founded in 2020 by local educators, Forest School offers a variety of educational programs for children ages 4-12. The school’s mission is to provide an immersive outdoor experience that encourages curiosity and exploration while fostering respect for nature and the environment.
At Forest School, students are encouraged to engage in hands-on activities such as gardening, building shelters from natural materials, tracking wildlife, exploring nearby creeks and streams, creating art projects using found objects from nature, and much more. Through these activities they learn about ecology and sustainability while developing skills like problem solving and teamwork. In addition to their daily outdoor explorations, students also participate in traditional classroom lessons such as reading comprehension or math practice.
The staff at Forest School consists of experienced teachers who have been trained in both environmental education and child development. They strive to create a safe space where all students can feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgement or criticism. With its focus on experiential learning through play-based activities outdoors combined with traditional academic instruction indoors, Forest School provides an enriching educational experience for young learners that will stay with them long after they leave the school grounds each day!
