Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy is a public charter school located in Avondale, Louisiana. Founded in 2006, the school serves students from grades 6-12 and offers an innovative curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The academy has been recognized for its excellence by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and was named one of America’s Best High Schools by Newsweek magazine in 2011.
The mission of Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy is to provide a rigorous academic program that prepares all students for college or career success through STEM education while fostering creativity and innovation within each student's individual learning style. To achieve this goal, the school provides small class sizes with highly qualified teachers who are dedicated to helping their students reach their full potential. In addition to core classes such as math, English language arts, social studies and science, the academy also offers electives including robotics engineering, computer programming and web design/development courses which allow students to explore their interests further.
Outside of academics, Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy encourages its students to get involved in extracurricular activities such as sports teams like basketball and volleyball; clubs like chess club or debate team; performing arts groups like band or choir; community service opportunities; field trips; internships; competitions; leadership programs; mentoring programs; summer camps and more!
