Burris Elementary School Description

Burris Elementary School is a public school located in Mitchell, Indiana. It serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade and has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school was established in 1891 and is part of the North Lawrence Community Schools district.

The mission of Burris Elementary School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. The faculty at Burris are dedicated to providing quality instruction for all students while fostering positive relationships with parents and community members.

At Burris Elementary School, teachers strive to create engaging lessons that meet the needs of each student’s individual learning style. They also emphasize the importance of collaboration among peers as well as critical thinking skills which will help prepare them for success in their future endeavors. In addition to core subjects such as math, science, language arts, social studies, physical education and health classes are offered throughout the year.

In order to ensure safety on campus there are several security measures in place including cameras around the building perimeter and secure entryways into classrooms during school hours. Additionally, staff members receive regular training on emergency procedures so they can respond quickly if needed.

Burris Elementary School provides many opportunities for extracurricular activities such as sports teams (basketball & volleyball), clubs (chess club & art club) and after-school programs (homework assistance). These activities allow students to explore new interests while developing important life skills like teamwork and leadership qualities which will benefit them both inside and outside of the classroom setting.
