Sparta High School Description
Sparta High School is a public high school located in Sparta, Illinois. It serves students from grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school was established in 1875 and is part of the Sparta Community Unit School District #140.
The mission of Sparta High School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. The school offers a wide variety of courses including English, math, science, social studies, foreign language, physical education/health/wellness classes as well as electives such as art and music. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are also available for those who wish to challenge themselves academically.
In addition to academics, Sparta High School provides its students with many extracurricular activities such as athletics (football, basketball, baseball/softball), clubs (National Honor Society & Student Council), performing arts (band & choir), student publications (newspaper & yearbook) and more! There are also numerous opportunities for community service through various organizations like Key Club or Interact Club which help promote volunteerism among the student body.
