Elgin High School Description

Elgin High School is a public high school located in Elgin, Illinois. Founded in 1856, it is the oldest continuously operating high school in the state of Illinois and one of the largest schools in District U-46. The school serves over 3,000 students from grades 9 to 12 and offers an array of educational opportunities for its diverse student body.

At Elgin High School, students are encouraged to explore their interests through a variety of courses including Advanced Placement classes, honors classes, career and technical education programs, dual credit college courses, and more. Students also have access to extracurricular activities such as athletics teams (including football, basketball, baseball/softball), clubs (such as National Honor Society or Key Club), performing arts groups (band or choir) and other organizations like Student Council or Robotics Team.

The faculty at Elgin High School strive to create an environment that encourages learning while promoting respect for all individuals regardless of race or background. They provide support services such as counseling and tutoring so that every student can reach their full potential both academically and socially. With dedicated teachers who care about each individual’s success combined with a wide range of resources available on campus – Elgin High School provides an excellent opportunity for students to prepare themselves for college life after graduation.
