Wendell Smith Elementary School is a public school located in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1965, it serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade and has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school's mission is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth for all its students.

The faculty at Wendell Smith Elementary School are dedicated to providing quality instruction and support services to ensure student success. They strive to create an atmosphere where each student can reach their full potential by fostering creativity, critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and respect for diversity. In addition to core subjects such as math, science, language arts, social studies and physical education; the school also offers enrichment classes including art, music and technology.

In order to promote positive behavior among its students Wendell Smith Elementary School implements various programs such as Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices (RP) and Character Education Programs (CEP). These initiatives help foster a sense of community within the school while teaching important life lessons about respectfulness, responsibility and good citizenship.
