Medgar Evers Elementary School is a public school located in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. It serves students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade and has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school was named after civil rights leader Medgar Evers, who was assassinated in 1963 for his efforts to end segregation in Mississippi.
The mission of Medgar Evers Elementary School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth while promoting respect for diversity and social justice. The school offers a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of all its students including special education services, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, gifted/talented programming, and after-school activities such as sports teams and clubs.
In addition to providing quality educational opportunities for its students, Medgar Evers Elementary School also strives to be an active member of the community by hosting events such as family nights with guest speakers or performances from local artists.
