Ames High School Description

Ames High School is a public high school located at 1921 Inheigh Drive in Ames, Iowa. Established in 1869, it is the oldest and largest high school in Story County. The school serves over 1,800 students from grades 9-12 and offers an extensive curriculum of academic courses as well as extracurricular activities such as athletics, music, theater arts, clubs and organizations.

The campus consists of two buildings: the main building which houses classrooms for all grade levels; and the auxiliary building which contains additional classrooms for special education classes, science labs and other specialized programs. The athletic facilities include a football field with seating for up to 5500 spectators; baseball fields; tennis courts; track & field areas; basketball courts; swimming pool; weight room and fitness center.

At Ames High School we strive to provide our students with a safe learning environment that encourages them to reach their full potential academically while also developing social skills that will help them succeed beyond graduation. We are committed to providing quality instruction through innovative teaching methods that promote critical thinking skills and foster creativity among our student body.
