Hilo Union Elementary School Description
Hilo Union Elementary School is a public school located in the heart of Hilo, Hawaii. Founded in 1891, it has been providing quality education to students for over 125 years. The school serves approximately 500 students from kindergarten through fifth grade and offers a variety of programs including music, art, physical education, and technology.
The campus consists of two buildings: an elementary building with classrooms for grades K-5 and a multi-purpose facility that houses the library, cafeteria, gymnasiums and other support services. The grounds are well maintained with lush green grassy areas perfect for outdoor activities such as recess or field day events.
At Hilo Union Elementary School teachers strive to create an environment where all children can learn and grow academically while also developing socially and emotionally. Teachers use various teaching strategies to engage their students in learning experiences that will help them reach their full potential. In addition to academics, the school provides extracurricular activities such as sports teams (soccer & basketball), student council meetings, afterschool clubs (chess club & robotics) and more!
