Hilo High School Description
Hilo High School is a public high school located in Hilo, Hawaii. Established in 1892, it is the oldest secondary school on the Big Island and one of the oldest schools in all of Hawaii. The school serves students from grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 1,400 students.
The campus consists of two main buildings: a three-story building with classrooms, offices, library and cafeteria; and a gymnasium/auditorium complex which includes a weight room, locker rooms and other athletic facilities. In addition to these facilities there are several outdoor sports fields including baseball diamonds, tennis courts and soccer fields.
At Hilo High School students have access to many educational opportunities such as Advanced Placement courses, college preparatory classes and career technical education programs. Students can also participate in extracurricular activities such as athletics (football, basketball etc.), clubs (drama club etc.) or student government organizations (student council).
Hilo High School strives to create an environment where every student feels safe and respected while being challenged academically so that they may reach their full potential. With its rich history and commitment to excellence Hilo High School continues to be one of the top schools on the Big Island for generations to come!
