Howard High School Description
Howard High School is a public high school located in Macon, Georgia. Established in 1891, it is the oldest continuously operating high school in Bibb County and one of the oldest schools in the state. The school serves students from grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 1,400 students.
The mission of Howard High School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth for all students. The faculty strives to create an atmosphere where each student can reach their full potential through rigorous instruction, meaningful relationships with teachers and staff members, and engaging activities both inside and outside of the classroom.
At Howard High School, there are numerous opportunities for students to get involved including clubs such as National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Key Club International, Science Olympiad Team, Robotics Team, Art Club & Drama Club. In addition to these extracurriculars there are also many sports teams available such as football, basketball, baseball/softball track & field , soccer , tennis , volleyball , golf , swimming & diving .
Howard High School offers a variety of courses designed to meet the needs of its diverse student body including Advanced Placement classes which allow qualified students to earn college credit while still attending high school. Additionally they offer career technical education programs like Culinary Arts or Automotive Technology so that students can gain real world experience before graduating from high school.
Overall Howard High School provides its students with a well rounded educational experience that prepares them for success after graduation whether they choose to pursue higher education or enter into the workforce directly upon completion of their studies at this historic institution
