Oglethorpe County High School Description
Oglethorpe County High School is a public high school located in Lexington, Georgia. Founded in 1891, it is the oldest high school in Oglethorpe County and one of the oldest schools in the state. The school serves students from grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students.
The mission of Oglethorpe County High School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth for all students. The faculty strives to create an atmosphere where each student can reach their full potential through rigorous instruction, meaningful activities, and positive relationships with peers and staff members.
At Oglethorpe County High School, there are numerous opportunities for students to get involved outside of the classroom. There are over 30 clubs available including art club, drama club, robotics team, National Honor Society chapter, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Spanish Club and more! In addition to these extracurriculars there are also many sports teams such as football, basketball, baseball/softball track & field etc., which compete at both regional and state levels.
Oglethorpe County High School offers its students a variety of educational programs designed to meet individual needs including Advanced Placement courses as well as career technical education classes like welding or automotive technology. Additionally they offer dual enrollment options so that qualified juniors and seniors can take college level courses while still attending high school.
