Decatur High School Description
Decatur High School is a public high school located in Decatur, Georgia. Founded in 1884, it is the oldest high school in DeKalb County and one of the oldest schools in the state. The school has an enrollment of over 1,500 students from grades 9-12 and offers a wide variety of academic programs including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, honors classes, career technical education (CTE), and special education services.
The campus consists of two buildings: the main building which houses classrooms for core subjects such as English, math, science and social studies; and a separate building that contains specialized classrooms for CTE courses like automotive technology or culinary arts. In addition to its educational offerings, Decatur High School also provides extracurricular activities such as athletics teams competing at both varsity and junior varsity levels; clubs ranging from student government to robotics; performing arts groups like choir or band; visual art classes; foreign language instruction; community service opportunities; and more.
At Decatur High School we strive to create an environment where all students can reach their full potential through rigorous academics combined with meaningful experiences outside of the classroom. We are proud to be part of this vibrant community!
