Hamden High School Description

Hamden High School is a public high school located at 2040 Dixwell Ave in Hamden, Connecticut. Founded in 1876, it is the oldest and largest secondary school in the town of Hamden. The school serves over 1,500 students from grades 9-12 and offers an array of educational opportunities to its diverse student body.

At Hamden High School, students are encouraged to explore their passions through a variety of courses including Advanced Placement (AP) classes, honors classes, career and technical education programs, as well as electives such as art and music. In addition to academics, the school also provides extracurricular activities for students to get involved with such as sports teams like football and basketball; clubs like National Honor Society; theater productions; robotics competitions; and more.

The faculty at Hamden High School strive to create an environment that fosters learning while promoting respect among all members of the community. Through various initiatives such as Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices (RP), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Character Education Programs (CEP), and other support services offered by guidance counselors or social workers – staff work together to ensure that every student has access to resources they need for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Hamden High School continues its commitment towards providing quality education for generations of students who have passed through its doors since 1876 - making it one of the most respected schools in Connecticut today!
