Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Description
The Luis Valdez Leadership Academy (LVLA) is a public charter school located in San Jose, California. Founded in 2011, LVLA provides an innovative and rigorous college preparatory education to students from diverse backgrounds. The school’s mission is to empower its students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in college and beyond.
At LVLA, teachers strive to create a safe learning environment where all students can reach their full potential. Through small class sizes and individualized instruction, teachers are able to provide personalized attention that helps each student succeed academically. In addition to core academic classes such as math, science, English language arts, social studies, foreign languages and physical education; the school also offers electives including art history & appreciation, music theory & composition and computer programming.
Outside of the classroom, LVLA encourages its students to get involved in extracurricular activities such as sports teams or clubs like robotics or debate team. The school also has a strong focus on community service projects which help foster leadership development among its students while giving back to the local community at large.
