Independence High School Description
Independence High School is a public high school located in Bakersfield, California. Founded in 1965, the school has been providing quality education to its students for over 50 years. With an enrollment of nearly 2,000 students from grades 9-12, Independence High School offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities that help prepare students for college and beyond.
The curriculum at Independence High School includes core classes such as English, Math, Science and Social Studies as well as electives like Art, Music and Physical Education. The school also provides Advanced Placement (AP) courses which allow students to earn college credit while still in high school. In addition to academics, IHS offers many clubs and organizations including student government, robotics team and drama club.
IHS is committed to creating a safe learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially. The faculty works hard to ensure that each student receives individual attention so they can reach their full potential. Through various programs such as AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), IHS helps equip its graduates with the skills necessary for success after graduation.
