Julian Harris Elementary School Description

Julian Harris Elementary School is a public school located in Decatur, Alabama. It serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade and has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The school was established in 1965 and named after Julian Harris, a prominent local educator who served as the principal of Decatur High School for many years.

The mission of Julian Harris Elementary School is to provide a safe learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth while fostering respect for diversity among its student body. The faculty at Julian Harris are dedicated to providing quality instruction that meets the needs of all learners. They strive to create an atmosphere where every child can reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

In addition to core academics such as math, science, language arts, social studies, physical education and health classes; Julian Harris also offers enrichment programs like music lessons and art classes which help foster creativity in its students. The school also provides extracurricular activities such as sports teams (basketball & soccer) and clubs (chess club & robotics).

At Julian Harris Elementary School we believe that each student should be given the opportunity to succeed both inside and outside the classroom setting by developing strong character traits such as responsibility, integrity, respectfulness and self-discipline.
