Micki Thomas
Micki Thomas found the Methow Valley on a cross country bike trip over 20 years ago. She biked over Washington Pass, had lunch at the Mazama Store, and marked this place in my memory bank as a place that I would want to live. After almost 30 years in Colorado, her and her husband pulled up their roots and came to Washington. They are constantly blown away by the beauty and diversity here and pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the community has been to newcomers. In fact, it is the community of people who live in the Methow that make it such a unique and special place. They, like so many others, found their first job in the Upper Valley working for the Mazama Store. In 2012 they opened the Goat’s Beard Mountain Supplies in Mazama and, through conversations with thousands of visitors, have had the amazing opportunity to share this special place and all it has to offer. In the 9 years they’ve lived here, they have explored a lot: tied into a climbing rope, on foot, on bikes, and on skis all over the Valley and in the mountains that surround it.
