Real. Value-Driven. Professional. These values describe Ron Berning, an entrepreneur and nonprofit leader in Boise since 1986 and a successful Realtor® since 2015. He also welcomes new businesses and leaders to the area as a volunteer Ambassador for the Boise Metro Chamber. Ron’s hard-work ethic and professionalism, combined with a bit of humor and levity, allow his clients to begin creating new memories while getting the best home value with the least amount of stress. Ron Berning has been richly influenced by self-employment and cultural diversity throughout his life. In his 17 years of owning and operating agricultural, retail, and food service businesses in Oregon and Idaho, Ron supervised and worked alongside people originally from Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Bosnia, and the Czech Republic. Ron then worked in the nonprofit sector for 17 years and in 2002 launched META, a microbusiness agency, providing business plan training, consulting, and direct lending to refugees, immigrants, women, minorities, and other disadvantaged entrepreneurs. As its program director, Ron was directly responsible for program and funding development that helped hundreds of new and existing businesses in southwest Idaho.Ron served for six years as an original board member of the Downtown Boise Association and five years as a board member of the Idaho Human Rights Education Center. He has been active in the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce for many years where he volunteers as one of its Ambassadors. Ron was instrumental in creating past Boise summer events Bite of Boise and International Food & Arts Festival. Ron received his Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University and in 2004 received his Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from George Fox University. In February 2013, Ron was selected for participation in the Partnering for Stronger Communities Grant Program, a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State and implemented by IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board). In May 2013, Ron traveled to Malawi and provided technical assistance and advice to l local microbusinesses for this Program. In 2015, Ron “re-invented” and challenged himself again—this time becoming a successful real estate agent where he applies his networking, relationship, and m management skills in helping people buy or sell homes and microbusinesses.
