This rather unique undeveloped property is located approximately 20 miles West of Taos, NM. The property is 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile square, and is surrounded by public land which is administered by the USDA Forest Service. The land is primarily gently rolling sagebrush, and is bisected by a lovely natural feature called the Arroyo Aguaje de la Petaca, which runs through the subject property. This unique property affords stupendous views of the Rocky Mountains to the West and other natural features in the rich geography and topography of this area, such as the nearby Cerros de los Taoses; Tres Orejas; Cerrito Dormilon, Cerro Mojino, and many others. This natural feature, the Arroyo Aguaje de la Petaca, is a seasonal streambed which runs periodically, primarily during the moisture rich spring snowmelt period after the mountains have received abundant snowpack over the winter, in good years. The 'arroyo' has remarkable rock walls of volcanic basalt on both sides, in many areas, and because of the unique environment provided by topography, slope, moisture, trees and brush and rich grass within the arroyo, this feature provides valuable micro-environments of rich wildlife habitat for birds, small and large game, and has provided hunting opportunities for primitive man, from time immemorial. The property is accessed primarily by County Road, but the final access to the subject property is provided by a US Forest Service Special Use Permit for an access road running across public land, which has been granted to the current owner, and the permit must be maintained and renewed periodically with the US Forest Service. One would need to bring their own source of electricity and water to the subject tract. Access to the property is limited in times of moisture when the roads are muddy or snowy. 4 Wheel drive is recommended on these primitive roads. Bring extra water, food, and clothing when traveling in this area, just in case.
