Cudia enlisted in the U.S. Army in WW I where he taught other Italian speaking soldiers to speak English and gained his American citizenship for his service.Possessing a unique skill set as a result of his classical Jesuit education and intellect, Cudia attained much acclaim in the 1920s and 30s as an accomplished sculptor, painter, photographer, musician, inventor, voice coach and concertmaster at New York City's famed Metropolitan Opera and movie director. In 1939, Cudia arrived in Phoenix where he established Cudia City Film Studios to produce western films and television series including "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "26 Men."In 1961, Cudia sold his movie set property at 40th street and Camelback Road and spent the last 10 years of his life in real estate development and dealing in objects d' art.Cudia City estates, an upscale community of 49 homes on near acre lots at 40th St. and Colter still bears the Cudia name along with Cudia wash just West of there.
