Fairfax, Virginia Description
Fairfax, VA is a vibrant city located in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C. It is home to George Mason University and the Fairfax County Government Center. The city has a population of over 24,000 people and is known for its diverse culture and history.
The city is full of attractions such as the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the Fairfax County Courthouse, the Ratcliffe-Allison House & Garden, and the Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center. There are also plenty of parks and trails to explore such as Burke Lake Park, Lake Accotink Park, and Hidden Oaks Nature Center.
Fairfax is also home to many shopping centers including Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax Corner Shopping Center, and Mosaic District Shopping Center. There are also plenty of restaurants to choose from ranging from casual eateries to upscale dining options.
The city has a thriving arts scene with numerous galleries and performance venues such as the Workhouse Arts Center and the George Mason University Center for the Arts. There are also several annual festivals such as Taste of Fairfax which celebrates local cuisine and music from around the world.
