Winnsboro, Texas Description
Winnsboro, Texas is a small town located in the northeast corner of the state, about 100 miles east of Dallas. It is situated in Wood County and has a population of around 3,500 people. The town was founded in 1846 and named after a local settler, William Winn.
The town is known for its historic downtown area which features several buildings from the 19th century. These include the Winnsboro Bank Building, the First National Bank Building, and the old post office building. There are also several churches in town including First United Methodist Church and St. John's Episcopal Church.
The economy of Winnsboro is largely based on agriculture with cotton being one of the main crops grown in the area. Other industries include timber production and manufacturing.
