Wills Point, Texas is a small town located in East Texas, about 50 miles east of Dallas. It is situated in Van Zandt County and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The population of Wills Point was 3,496 at the 2010 census.
The town was founded in 1873 by William Wills, who established a trading post on the banks of the Sabine River. The town was named after him and has since grown to become a thriving community with a variety of businesses and services.
The city is known for its historic downtown area which features several buildings from the late 19th century including the old post office, courthouse, and jailhouse. There are also several churches in the area including First United Methodist Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
The city is home to several parks including Lake Tawakoni State Park which offers camping, fishing, boating, swimming, and other recreational activities. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as an equestrian center for horseback riding enthusiasts.
Wills Point is also home to several annual events such as the Wills Point Bluegrass Festival which takes place every April and features live music from local bluegrass bands. The city also hosts an annual rodeo each June which draws thousands of visitors from all over Texas and beyond.
