West Columbia, Texas Description
West Columbia is a small city located in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. It is situated on the west bank of the Brazos River, approximately 40 miles south of Houston. The population was 3,905 at the 2010 census.
West Columbia is known for its historic downtown area, which features several buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The city also has a number of parks and recreational areas, including West Columbia Park and the West Columbia Nature Preserve.
The economy of West Columbia is largely based on agriculture and oil production. The city is home to several large farms that produce cotton, corn, soybeans, and other crops. Oil production has been an important part of the local economy since the early 20th century.
