Temple, Texas is a city located in Bell County, Texas. It is situated in the heart of Central Texas and is part of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has a population of around 72,000 people and covers an area of about 55 square miles.

The city was founded in 1881 by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Company and was named after a nearby cotton gin, which was named after a local Methodist church. The city quickly grew to become an important center for commerce and industry due to its location on the railroad line. Today, Temple is home to several large employers such as Scott & White Healthcare, Wilsonart International, McLane Company and more.

Temple is known for its vibrant culture and diverse attractions. The city hosts several annual festivals such as the Czech Heritage Festival, the Wildflower Arts & Music Festival and the Mayfest celebration. There are also many parks throughout the city including Miller Springs Nature Center which offers hiking trails, picnic areas and educational programs about local wildlife. Other attractions include the Bell County Expo Center which hosts events such as rodeos, concerts and trade shows; Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum; Mayborn Science Theater; Temple Mall; and much more.

Temple is also home to several higher education institutions including Temple College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas A&M University-Central Texas. With its convenient location near Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, Temple provides easy access to all these major cities while still maintaining its small town charm.
