Schertz, Texas Description
Schertz is a city located in Guadalupe and Bexar counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. The population was 34,883 as of the 2019 U.S. Census estimate, making it the largest city in Guadalupe County and one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas.
Schertz is known for its small-town charm and family-friendly atmosphere, with a variety of parks, trails, and recreational activities available to residents and visitors alike. The city also boasts a vibrant economy with numerous businesses, including major employers such as Randolph Air Force Base, Amazon Fulfillment Center, and Schertz Bank & Trust Co., among others.
The city is home to several attractions such as Pickrell Park, which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and an amphitheater; Schertz Splash Pad; Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch; and Retama Park Racetrack & Casino. Additionally, there are several shopping centers located throughout the city offering everything from clothing stores to restaurants to grocery stores.
Schertz is served by two school districts: Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District (SCUCISD) and Judson Independent School District (JISD). SCUCISD serves most of Schertz while JISD serves parts of northern Schertz. Both districts offer excellent educational opportunities for students from pre-kindergarten through high school graduation.
