Oak Forest is a small town located in the state of Texas, USA. It is situated in the eastern part of Harris County, about 25 miles northeast of downtown Houston. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and covers an area of 1.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1883 and was originally known as Oak Forest Station. It was named after the many oak trees that grew in the area at the time. The town has since grown to include several businesses, including a post office, a bank, a grocery store, and several restaurants.
The climate in Oak Forest is humid subtropical with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from lows of 40°F (4°C) in winter to highs of 95°F (35°C) in summer. Rainfall averages around 45 inches per year with most occurring during the spring and summer months.
Oak Forest is home to several parks and recreational areas including Oak Forest Park which features playgrounds, picnic areas, walking trails, and sports fields; and Lake Houston Park which offers fishing opportunities as well as camping sites. There are also several churches located within the town limits including First Baptist Church of Oak Forest and St John's Lutheran Church.
