Missouri City, Texas Description
Missouri City, TX is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas, within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The city is situated in Fort Bend County and is part of the Greater Houston area. Missouri City has a population of approximately 75,000 people and covers an area of about 33 square miles.
The city was founded in 1853 by John M. Miller and named after his hometown of Missouri City, Missouri. It was incorporated as a town in 1956 and as a city in 1959. The city has grown steadily since then, with its population increasing by over 50% between 2000 and 2010.
Missouri City is known for its excellent schools, parks, and recreational facilities. It is home to several public schools including Fort Bend ISD's Elkins High School, Dulles High School, and Ridge Point High School; as well as private schools such as St. Laurence Catholic School and Logos Preparatory Academy. The city also boasts numerous parks including Buffalo Run Park, Oyster Creek Park, Quail Valley Golf Course & Country Club, Sienna Plantation Golf Club & Resort, and more!
In addition to its great schools and parks, Missouri City also offers plenty of shopping opportunities at places like First Colony Mall or Town Center at Quail Valley Shopping Center; entertainment venues such as Smart Financial Centre; and restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining establishments like Pappasito's Cantina or La Fisheria Restaurant & Bar.
