Kempner, Texas Description
Kempner, Texas is a small town located in Lampasas County, Texas. It is situated about 25 miles northwest of Killeen and about 70 miles north of Austin. The population of Kempner is approximately 1,200 people.
Kempner was founded in 1883 by the Kempner family who were among the first settlers in the area. The town was named after John C. Kempner, a Confederate soldier who served in the Civil War and later became a rancher in the area.
Kempner is known for its rural charm and small-town atmosphere. The town has several local businesses including a grocery store, hardware store, gas station, and several restaurants. There are also several churches located in the area as well as a public library and post office.
The climate in Kempner is generally mild with hot summers and cool winters. The average temperature ranges from highs of around 90 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months to lows of around 30 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter months. Rainfall averages around 30 inches per year with most precipitation occurring during spring and summer months.
