Jarrell, Texas Description
Jarrell, TX is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. It is situated about 30 miles north of Austin and is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. The population of Jarrell was 1,868 at the 2010 census.
The town was founded in 1882 by William Jarrell, who named it after himself. It was originally a farming community and cotton was the main crop grown in the area. In recent years, Jarrell has become a bedroom community for people who work in nearby cities such as Austin and Round Rock.
The town has several parks and recreational areas including Jarrell City Park which features a playground, picnic tables, basketball court, and walking trails. There are also several churches in the area including First Baptist Church of Jarrell and St. John's Lutheran Church.
Jarrell is served by the Jarrell Independent School District which includes two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district also operates an alternative education program for students who need additional help or have special needs.
The town has several restaurants including Mexican restaurants such as El Charro Mexican Restaurant and La Paloma Mexican Restaurant as well as American restaurants such as Big Daddy's BBQ & Grill and The Pizza Place. There are also several convenience stores located throughout the town for quick shopping trips.
