Heartland, Texas Description
Heartland, TX is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. It is situated about 25 miles south of downtown Dallas and is part of Ellis County. The town has a population of just over 2,000 people and covers an area of approximately 4 square miles.
The town was founded in 1876 and was originally known as "Heartland Station" due to its location on the Texas & Pacific Railway line. The town was renamed Heartland in 1883 when it was incorporated.
The town has a rural feel with many farms and ranches surrounding it. There are several parks and recreational areas including Heartland Park, which features a playground, picnic tables, walking trails, and a fishing pond. The town also has several churches, including the First United Methodist Church which dates back to 1881.
The economy of Heartland is largely based on agriculture with many local farmers growing cotton, corn, wheat, hay, and other crops. There are also several businesses located in the area including restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, banks, auto repair shops, and more.
Heartland is served by the Midlothian Independent School District which includes two elementary schools and one middle school within the city limits. The nearest high school is located in nearby Midlothian.
