Gun Barrel City, Texas Description
Gun Barrel City is a small city located in Henderson County, Texas, United States. It is situated on the shores of Cedar Creek Lake, about 50 miles southeast of Dallas. The city was founded in 1970 and has a population of around 5,000 people.
The city is known for its outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, camping and swimming. There are several marinas and boat ramps located around the lake for easy access to the water. Gun Barrel City also has several parks and trails for hiking and biking. The city also hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year including the annual Gun Barrel City Festival which features live music, food vendors, arts & crafts and more.
The downtown area of Gun Barrel City is home to many unique shops and restaurants. There are several antique stores as well as specialty stores selling items such as jewelry, clothing and home decor. The downtown area also features a variety of restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining establishments.
Gun Barrel City is served by two school districts: Mabank Independent School District and Kemp Independent School District. Both districts offer elementary through high school education with an emphasis on college preparation courses. The city also has two private schools: Trinity Christian Academy and Cedar Creek Christian Academy.
Overall, Gun Barrel City is a great place to live with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy year-round as well as unique shops and restaurants in the downtown area.
