Gainesville, Texas Description
Gainesville, Texas is a small city located in Cooke County, about 70 miles north of Dallas. It is the county seat and has a population of around 16,000 people. The city was founded in 1850 and named after General Edmund Pendleton Gaines, who fought in the War of 1812.
Gainesville is known for its historic downtown area, which features many old buildings that have been restored to their original beauty.
