Flint, Texas Description
Flint, Texas is a small town located in the northeast corner of Smith County, about 90 miles east of Dallas. The population is just over 1,000 people and the town has a rural feel with rolling hills and lush green pastures.
The town was founded in 1845 by settlers from Tennessee and named after the flint rock found in the area. It was an important stop on the stagecoach route between Tyler and Palestine. Today, Flint is still a small community with a few businesses, churches, and schools.
The main attraction in Flint is its historic downtown area which includes several buildings from the 19th century. The most notable building is the old courthouse which was built in 1876 and now serves as a museum. Other attractions include the historic Flint Cemetery, which dates back to 1846, and several antique stores.
Flint also has several parks including Lake Palestine State Park which offers camping, fishing, boating, swimming, and other outdoor activities. There are also several golf courses nearby for those looking to hit the links.
