Coryell, Texas is a small town located in the heart of Central Texas. It is situated in Coryell County, just north of Waco and south of Gatesville. The population of Coryell is approximately 1,000 people.

The town was founded in 1854 by settlers from Tennessee and named after James Coryell, a local rancher and early settler. The town has a rich history that includes the establishment of the first school in the county, as well as being home to several businesses including a cotton gin and a blacksmith shop.

Today, Coryell is still a small rural community with many of its original buildings still standing. The downtown area features several historic buildings including the old post office, which now serves as the city hall. There are also several churches in town, including First Baptist Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
