Conroe, Texas is a city located in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. It is the county seat of Montgomery County and is situated about 40 miles north of Houston. The city has a population of over 82,000 people and is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area.

Conroe was founded in 1881 by Isaac Conroe, a lumberman from New York. The city was named after him and grew rapidly due to its proximity to Houston and the abundance of timber in the area. Today, Conroe is home to many businesses and industries including oil and gas production, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, education, and tourism.

The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from lows in the mid-30s during winter months to highs in the mid-90s during summer months.
